There aren’t a lot of things in life I love more than a homemade hamburger. I make these so often now that I feel like I should start a home-based hamburger joint. It’s not just patty in buns, it’s that beautiful crust on the outside, juicy beef and tender on the inside. The irresistible burger sauce smothered on a toasted bun. if that didn’t cause your mouth to water then I don’t know what will. I used to make every week for our summer cookouts over the years and they’d be gone in what, minutes? Just ordering a hamburger is convenient, but once you try making this our way, you’d never go back to the dry soggy hamburger from your favorite restaurant.
I have tried hamburgers from so many different places and fast-food joints, but nothing could ever win my heart like a classic fresh cheesy hamburger. The flavors of the tender beef, the sauce and freshly toasted buns, all married to each other and bursting in your mouth, straight out of heaven.
The pro tip to get that perfect hamburger bite is to use a good quality beef. This specific protein is full of a natural flavor. The seasonings, herbs and sauces will help build up the flavor. Trust me when I tell you, I’ve worked on this hamburger recipe a great many years and I’ve concluded that the simpler the better.
Hamburger buns: The homemade buns are just top notch for this recipe, but you can use the store-bought buns too. After all, why did the hamburger go to the gym? To get nice buns 😉
TOPPINGS: Your favorite toppings will add that extra texture, color and taste to the burger. I would recommend getting your toppings ready ahead of time. So they are ready to go when the patties are hot and just cooked. Fresh veggies, pickles, jalapenos, avocados, you name it!
Ingredients you need for the patties:
- Beef: 1 ½ pounds of lean ground beef.
- Onion: A finely chopped onion.
- Cheese: shredded Cheddar cheese.
- Egg: it will help bind the patties together.
- Dry onion soup mix
- Fresh garlic
- Garlic powder
- Soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce
- Dried parsley, dried basil, dried oregano and crushed dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper.
Step by step guide:
- Preheat an outdoor grill on high heat and lightly oil it.
- Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Don’t over work the meat, it’ll get tough and dense.
- Mix them well and form the mixture into 4 patties using your hands.
- Place the patties on a preheated grill and cook them for 4-5 minutes on each side. Cook until the center of the patty is no longer pink.
- This step is optional but if you have an instant read thermometer insert it in the patties. It should give a reading of 165 degrees F.
- Apply a generous amount of your favorite burger sauces on the buns.
- Place the toppings of your liking.
- Place cheesy burger patty over the veggies and cover with top bun.
- Serve the hamburgers with your favorite BBQ side dish and dive into that juicy bite!
